The difference between ordinary pallet racking and double depth pallet racking

Pallet racks are also called heavy-duty racks, beam racks etc. They are storage racks that use pallets or storage cages as the access unit. There are two types beam racking. One is the ordinary pallet racking the others is the double deep pallet racking.

The ordinary pallet racking is consist of upright, beam, horizontal/diagonal bracing, foot plate and nuts etc. It is a plug-in structure, and two rows of pallet racks are stored side by side not against the wall. Its main features are:

1. Integrated storage with pallets or storage cages as a unit

2. It belongs to the traditional storage rack and has a wide range of applications. Supporting frames can be added to the beams or mesh laminates can be laid as needed.

3. The forklift can carry out storage and retrieval operations at any position of the racking system, with 100% selectivity, convenient and quick operation

4. The unit span is within 4m, the depth is within 1.5m, the high heights are within 12m, and the super-high height is within 30m.

5. The column pitch is 75MM and 50MM, which is convenient for the vertical adjustment of the beam and can meet the space requirements of different sizes of goods.

The double deep pallet racking features:

1. The shelf height is low, and the operating height should be within 8M.

2. While the storage density increases, the selectivity is reduced to 50%.

3. It is suitable for warehouses with large storage capacity but low access frequency.

4. Double the inventory volume than ordinary pallet racking.

5. The forklift channel needs to be around 3.3 meters.

6. The access mode is generally first-in-last-out, and it is difficult to achieve first-in-first-out.

So, which is better to choose ordinary heavy-duty shelves or double-depth shelves?

Both types of racks have their own advantages, we should choose the pallet rack according to actual needs.
